"M2" Cave Update
To our relief, the holding company has finally sold the property. That's good because WCC couldn't afford the entire 642 acres, whereas the new owner is open to selling just the cave. We got to the negotiating table by sending a new letter of intent offering $40,000 for 80 acres (the minimum lot size) plus the cost of the split. We've since discussed other options with the owner, and it's likely some sort of deal can be reached. Support for this project has been strong in the Pacific Northwest, where the WCC has already raised pledges of $9,775 towards this purchase.

In November, 2003, the Western Cave Conservancy submitted a letter of intent to
purchase a parcel of land containing "M2" Cave, near Grants
Pass, Oregon. The cave is on a large parcel of land, and the proposal entailed
buying only the portion with the cave, and absorbing the expenses of doing the
subdivision.
